Internet Phenomenon Making a Political Splash?
Who knew?
Members of the Buffalo Bills Message Board make their selection.
To some, it was a meaningless play in a hopeless blowout.
To Bills fans, it was the unforgettable play in a game they’d like to forget. And it was the greatest takeaway in Buffalo Bills’ history.
In a recent poll on the message board at BuffaloBills.com, Bills fans made Don Beebe’s play against the Cowboys in Super Bowl XXVII the run-away winner. Sam Adams’ interception of Tom Brady and touchdown return to cap a 31-0 rout of the Patriots was a distant second, garnering fewer than half of the votes Beebe received. Nate Odomes’ overtime pick to set up the winning field goal in the Comeback Game finished third. Chris Kelsay’s deflection and interception against the Cowboys in 2007 and Carlton Bailey’s interception for a TD of Jeff Wright’s deflection of a John Elway pass to win the 1991 AFC championship game rounded out the top five.
Beebe’s play didn’t change the game like Wright’s deflection and Bailey’s interception. It wasn’t a spectacular athletic play like Nate Odomes’ amazing strip of Willie Gault and touchdown return.

Remember how they put the disclaimers in advertising, especially by financial brokers, about "past performance not a guarantee of future results?".
That's the disclaimer I'd like to put out before I start my wyorant, magnitude 7.5 (combination of JP/TE's numbers). A statement by someone I respect on the Buffalo Bills Message Board recently made about the number of JP/TE threads that are still firing away like this is circa late 90's and we are in the midst of the Roberta/Frootie debate again. Oh noooooo.......

What a weekend! Almost as good as a football weekend.
The Bills did us a favor and added two big time Burglars to the squad - Leodis McKelvin Troy) at corner and Chris Ellis (Virginia Tech) at defensive end. Both have a nose for the ball and should help at to the takeaway totals for years to come.
Here's what I think:
1. This team knows what it wants.

Touchdowns are double
In prior years, we asked people to pay one amount for takeaways and pay an extra amount for every takeaway returned for a touchdown. That worked fine but was a little complicated, so this year we simplified the system. Just pick one amount for takeaways, and we'll automatically double that amount for TD takeaways.
For example, last year the Bills had 30 takeaways, including 3 for TDs (George Wilson, Chris Kelsay and George Wilson - sweet!). If that happens again this year, someone who pledges $1 per ball will be charged $33 - $1 for each takeaway and $1 for each touchdown. Believe me, you'll be happy to pay it!

The Ball Burglar reaches his 30 Takeaway goal!
The Ball Burglar and his henchmen had one of their great seasons in 2007, stilling the old pigskin 30 times from the opponents, sixth best in the NFL.
Terence McGee led the way with four interceptions. Jim Leonhard, George Wilson and Jabari Greer joined in the fun with two each. In total, the Bills racked up 18 interceptions, including three returned for touchdowns.
John Digiorgio recovered two fumbles, and 10 other Bills each added one fumble recovery to the loot.
Best of all, Bills fans paid more than $300 for every takeaway the Bills got, totaling more than $10,000 on the season! The Attica Bills Backer chapter alone pitched in with more than $3,000 to help out kids in western New York and around the country.
